A few weeks ago I flew out to south Florida during Miami Music Week and was given the opportunity to attend an electronic music event located in the heart of Miami. The Winter Bass Conference was housed at Churchill's, an up and coming venue in Wynwood, showcasing tons of emerging artists. The impressive lineup included many of south Florida's rising DJs and artists. Miami Music Week encompasses much more than just music; it also brings out the cool fashion of the locals who attend these events and hip venues like Churchill's that set out the perfect vibe for underground music and street style.
To find out about some of the artists who blew my mind, and to check out the sick street style served by the local SoFlo kids, keep scrolling for more on my experience at the Winter Bass Conference.

Although very low key and intimate, the Winter Bass Conference was every raver's wet dream, featuring a variety of dance music from trap to disco house and much more.

Ones to look out for are duo Afrobeta and solo DJ Origami. Their sets entranced me and kept me moving all night.
Afrobeta, a duo of artists Cuci Amador and Smurfio, whose sound is similar to electro pop (with a touch of disco house and funk), introduced a concept I had never before seen. Cuci, while being the lead vocalist, not only sings, but also live mixes her own sounds with a portable sound mixer, accompanied by Smurfio who plays the guitar and synthesizer. I was mesmerized by their outrageously unique performance. The duo has been working their way to the top by capturing the attention of music lovers and critics alike. Together they are ones to watch as their sound is extremely unique and they are quickly rising to the top of Miami's dance music scene.

Origami, a fairly new DJ, managed to captivate the crowds with her sick fantasy trance sounds. Her beats reeled me in and kept me dancing all throughout her set. She kept the audience on their toes, by playing a variety of sounds that could appeal to any house music lover. I am definitely going to be keeping close tabs on Origami as she makes a strong entrance to the underground house scene.

Aside from the amazing artists who performed at the event, the venue and crowd also made up a lot of the experience. Miami is not only known for having a sick music scene, but the unique fashion displayed by the hip youth in south Florida also make for an exciting crowd to intermingle alongside. I took the chance to photograph some of the crowd goers whose styles caught my eye most.
